A brief history of the Chicago Great Western route to Kansas City:

06/26/21

This simple stone arch bridge crosses a tributary of Fourmile Creek.
Carrying a future alignment of the Chichaqua Valley Trail, the bridge was originally built in approximately 1884 to carry the Chicago Great Western Railway.
Since being built, the bridge has received little alterations. The only notable alteration is the grouting of the stones, done in early 2017.
Overall, the bridge remains in fair condition. It is unknown where the CGW quarried stone from, but it appears that most CGW arches were built of limestone, which deteriorates with time and exposure to water.

The author has ranked this bridge as being locally significant, due to the common design of the bridge and small span length.
The photo above is an overview. The bridge can be accessed from 29th Street. It is located near the intersection of 29th Street and I-80.
